College Scholarship program

The Wagnalls Memorial Foundation administers and awards various scholarships to local graduating seniors who meet specific requirements. We are committed to providing area youth with incentives to pursue higher education and welcome donations from individuals and corporations to support the Wagnalls Scholarship program. Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee made up of Directors, staff, and community members.

Application period is February 1 to March 15.

Applications must be received by The Wagnalls Memorial by email to , hand-delivered to the library, or postmarked by March 15 and include transcripts, essays, and residency affidavits.

Currently, The Wagnalls Memorial does NOT have a notary on staff to notarize Residency Affidavits. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Mabel Wagnalls Jones Scholarship

  • one $1,000 scholarship award, renewable up to three additional years
  • Requires applicant to be a Bloom Township resident and reside continuously before September 1st of the year entering first grade through graduation with preference to Lithopolis
  • Must be a high school graduating senior
  • Requires application with a transcript and a signed and notarized residency affidavit
  • minimum GPA of 3.0

Wagnalls Volunteer Scholarship

  • one $2,000 scholarship award
  • Requires applicant to be a Bloom Township resident and reside continuously in Bloom Township from September 1st of the freshman year through graduation
  • Must be a high school graduating senior
  • Requires application with a transcript and a signed and notarized residency affidavit
  • minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must include signed letter of reference from volunteer's supervisor outlining volunteer experience with the application. Preference given to Wagnalls volunteers.

Wagnalls Memorial Scholarship

  • Four (4) -$1,750 scholarship award
  • Preference for majors in education; science; engineering; or literary arts, visual arts, or performing arts.
  • Requires applicant to be a Bloom Township resident and reside continuously in Bloom Township from September 1st of the freshman year through graduation
  • Must be a high school graduating senior.
  • Requires application with a transcript and a signed and notarized residency affidavit
  • minimum GPA of 3.0

Charles V. Moore Scholarship

  • One $500 scholarship award
  • Requires applicant to be a Bloom Township resident before September 1st of the year entering first grade through graduation with preference to Rural Bloom Township students
  • Canal Winchester or Bloom-Carroll graduating senior, or first-year college student
  • Requires application with a transcript and a signed and notarized residency affidavit
  • minimum GPA of 3.0

A.B. and Hazel Weiser Scholarship

  • Two scholarship awards of $500 or one $1,000 scholarship award
  • Preference given to Canal Winchester High School graduating senior
  • Preference for declared major in education
  • Requires applicant to be a Bloom Township resident before September 1st of the year entering first grade through graduation
  • Requires application with a transcript and a signed and notarized residency affidavit

Lawrence Stebleton Scholarship

  • One $1,000 award
  • Applicant must have attended and be graduating from Canal Winchester Schools
  • No restrictions to major

Style to a Tea Scholarship

  • One $1,500 award
  • Annual scholarship proceeds came from an annual style show led by community volunteers
  • Requires applicant to be a Bloom Township resident and reside continuously in Bloom Township September 1st of freshman year through graduation
  • Must be a high school graduating senior
  • Requires application with a transcript and a signed and notarized residency affidavit
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Walker-Hecox-Hickle American Legion Post 677 Scholarships

  • 3-$3,000 scholarships awarded
Requires a separate application. Post 677 scholarships recipients are selected by members of the Post.

  • Bloom Carroll High School graduating senior
